Kentucky Disaster Relief Information

The horrific destruction and death caused by tornadoes in Kentucky and other recently brings sadness to our hearts and concern for our KyQHA Members and their families, animals, clients, and communities that have been devastated by the storms.

We collectively mourn the loss of life that has occurred, and as recovery and rebuilding efforts are undertaken, we recognize that massive resources will be needed to support physical and mental health, rebuild homes, businesses, farms, and infrastructure, and begin the journey of healing.

KyQHA is working with members in impacted areas along with other equine stakeholders in the state to offer assistance and keep people informed.  Below is information that may assist you as someone in need of help or someone wanting to offer help.

Need Help or Want to Help?

If you need help or know of someone needing assistance, here are some options that might assist. In addition, if you are a KyQHA member, we welcome hearing from you directly as you are our family. Please reach out to our president, Keith Kleine at (859) 327-8750 or kkleine@aaep.org.

We also encourage members, horse people and farmers to in the impacted areas to contact their County Extension Office, which will collect a list of needs from producers for their operation and provide that information to KDA. The Department will then coordinate with farm organizations, potential donors, and others to match the requested need with the donor of the items. This can include immediate needs such as hay or feed to longer-term items such as fencing material. KDA will then connect the donor with the local Extension contact to work out the delivery and logistics of getting the items to that County. The County Extension Office will then manage the distribution to their farmers within their County.
