2010 AQHYA Racing Experience

The 2010 AQHYA Racing Experience is quickly approaching. The Experience this year will be held at Lone Star Park in Dallas, TX, October 13 through October 17.

The Racing Experience is an opportunity for Youth members to see the real world of racing and get a taste of the processes which make the industry run. The trip should be fun, as well as a valuable learning experience.

Requirements:

Youth must be 16 years old as of January 1st of 2010. Racing affiliates may send one youth from their regional experience by sending in their application by September 1. Youth may also apply to be an At-Large Participant. To apply, AQHA must receive your application by September 1 as well. No exceptions will be made.

Financial Aid Opportunity:

$6,000 worth of scholarships will be awarded according to the youth's over all scores. These scores from the pre-experience notebook, the second half of the notebook completed at the experience and the barn test will determine recipients.

It's time to get those applications in so don't delay there are a very limited number of spots available.

The KyQHA Queen Contest for the 2010

The KyQHA Queen Contest for the 2010 season was held Saturday May the 8th at beautiful Midway College near Lexington, Ky. We are extremely grateful to Mary Ann Leman for coordinating the use of the facilities.

The four beautiful and skilled contestants were Julie Thomerson, 18 years old from Etoile, Ky; Heather McKeown, age 24 from Felicity, Ohio; Cecilia Partee age 21 from Portsmouth, Ohio and Kenzie Klingenberg, age 20 from Tipp City, Ohio.

The day started at 10 am with horsemanship, at 11:00 the interviews began and then we concluded with a written test.

The Queen's luncheon was enjoyed at "Darlin' Jeans Apple Cobbler Café" in downtown Midway. A grateful thank-you is extended to Norm Luba and the NAERIC Association for sponsoring lunch.

We came back to the College at 1:00 for the crowning of the new 2010 KyQHA Queen and for formal pictures.

Congratulations to Miss Ce Ce Partee our 2010 KyQHA Queen.

Ce Ce's prizes include "The Queen's Crown," a monogrammed halter, a horse blanket with the Queen's logo and a ring from Amy's Equine Jewelry.

Ce Ce will represent KyQHA at many of our KY Horse shows; she will be giving out awards at the KY State Fair Quarter Horse Show. She will assist other queens from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Ontario in giving out awards at the "Regional Experience" this July in Columbus Ohio. She will represent KyQHA at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games held at the KY Horse Park this fall.

Ce Ce's expenses will be paid by KyQHA to attend the All-American Quarter Horse Congress to be held in October when she will compete to become the Congress Queen.

Ce Ce is 21 yrs old, a student at the University of Cincinnati and is majoring in Neurobiology and Pre-med.
