Clayton Jerrell Appointments : 2010 Youth Vice President Bio : Clayton Jerrell is a 17 year old Junior at Heath High School in West Paducah, Ky. Clayton is active in 4H and FFA as well as the KyQHYA. He began his riding career at 10 months old and showed his first lead line class at 3. He has since graduated from the local and 4H shows and has been showing the AQHA circuit for 5 years. He began with an All-Arounder and has points in multiple events, however as a KyQHYA member he proudly represented the Ky team in Reining at the World and Congress in 2009 and 2010 (where he placed in the Top Ten both years) and also Western Pleasure at the Congress in 2009. Clayton was the 2010 KyQHYA Vice-President. Clayton serves as Treasurer for his FFA Chapter and is the District 7 Teen Representative to the Kentucky 4H Horse Council where he serves as the only Youth on the State Council Board. In 2007, 2008, and 2010 Clayton represented the Ky 4H Horse Program at the American Youth Horse Council and also attended the 2010 Youth Excellence Seminar and AQHYA Convention where he met many people in the horse industry and became knowledgeable as to what other states and Associations are doing to promote the horse industry as a whole. Clayton has also represented Ky 4H at the Congress and Eastern National 4H Contests in the Public Speaking division. Clayton plans to utilize his public speaking and social skills to the betterment of the KyQHYA. He will use his past experiences to serve the KyQHYA Board of Directors to the best of his ability. |

Maggie Downen Appointments : 2010 Youth President Bio : Maggie Downen is a 17-year-old junior at Gallatin County High School. Maggie is actively involved in her school. She helps with many after school activities and sponsors many of the fundraisers for these clubs. Some of the clubs include: FFA, 4-H, The National Beta Club, Art Club, Spanish Club, and Math Club. Maggie has been involved with horses her entire life. She began showing lead line at a very young age and has since been very familiar with the showing circuit. Two years ago, Maggie became actively involved with KyQHYA and the business end of the horse world. Her first year she served as the Reporter, her second year she was elected president, and this year she serves you as the 2011 Vice President. Since she became involved in 2009, she has attended many youth leadership conferences and workshops including, YES (Youth Excellence Seminar) and the American Youth Horse Council year-end banquet. She has also been on the Youth World Show and Congress Teams, competing not only in horse showing events, but also presenting the scrapbook in 2010. |

Kevyn Cunningham Bio : I am a sophomore at Ballard Memorial High School where I am an honor student in the honors program. I enjoy being a member of Beta, National Honor's Society, National Honor Roll, FFA, and a Student Ambassador. Last year I competed on the FFA Chapter Meeting Team, Creed Speaking Contest, and was the Community Service Committee Chairman. My AQHA show career began at the age of seven in all-around events and I still compete as an all-around exhibitor with my third horse RV Blazin Hot Zipper aka "Skeeter". I have been a member of AQHYA for eight years, WTQHYA for two years where I have served as treasurer both years and competed on the NYATT team at Congress. I have been treasurer for the Carson Park 4-H Horse Club for the last three years, and compete at the district and state level horse shows. I really enjoy being involved in different youth organizations. In 2009 I attended the American Youth Horse Council Symposium in Lexington, KY where I met several people involved in all aspects of the horse industry. I also enjoyed attending the Youth Excellence Seminar in Amarillo with the Kentucky Delegation this summer. I have made many friends through my involvement with horses and have lots of great memories, my favorite being placing 9th in trail with my horse W W Charlie at Congress last year. |

Kyle Dougherty
Bio : Kyle Dougherty is a 8th grader at Walton Verona Middle School in Walton, Ky. He is a member of the National Junior Honor Society, has held the position of vice-president in 4-H, is on the All A honor roll and is a member of First Church of Christ in Burlington, Ky. Kyle started showing lead line when he was 4 and showed APHA and open shows until he got his first quarter horse Sheza Classic Joy. He is currently showing western pleasure, showmanship and horsemanship with new horse Double Hot Chocolate, better known as Lincoln. With this new horse and a new trainer, Stacey Ryan, Kyle had his best year of showing yet! Winning Reserve All Around Youth at his first show, getting his first Circuit Championship and becoming the 13 and under Showmanship Region 4 Champion were just a few of the highlights. He had the honor of being a member of the 2010 Congress Youth Team and is looking forward to next year when he hopes to represent Kentucky at Youth World Show. Kyle also plays basketball for Walton Verona's 8th grade and Freshman teams. He is a pitcher, shortstop, and second baseman for the Northern Kentucky Buccaneers, a travel baseball team. Kyle's passion for riding and showing quarter horses is very deep. He hopes to be able to contribute to making the Kentucky Quarter Horse Youth Association an organization that continues to keep growing for years to come! |

Alex Maley Bio : My name is Alexandra Maley. I am 16 years old, and a junior at Larry A. Ryle High School. I am currently taking advanced placement courses and making an A,B average. I have been showing horses since I was 5 yrs old. I began my showing with western pleasure, then showed hunter jumpers with KHJA and OHJA. I have been competing with 4-H for 7yrs and have also shown on the buckskin circuit. I am currently showing on the Quarter Horse Circuit where I have been competing for the past four years in Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation and Over Fences. In addition to that, I have been an active member in FFA for the past 2 years. I have also shown livestock in 4-H. I plan on using my love and knowledge for horses, as well as the skills I have acquired throughout school, FFA, 4-H etc. in leadership and public speaking, to help better this organization. |

Conner Murt Bio : Conner Murt is a Freshman at Christian Fellowship in Benton, Ky. Conner has been showing American Quarter Horses for 3 years. In 2010 Conner represented Kentucky at the AQHYA World Show by Nationally Qualifying in Western Pleasure on his horse, Midnite Invitation. In 2011 Conner will debut his new horse; One Hot Moonlight in the Youth Western Pleasure classes and 'Lucy' will be shown by Jon Barry in the Open Western Pleasure classes. Conner has shown all across the country and plans to use his knowledge and connections to make the KyQHYA the best it can be. |

Abigail Tanner Bio : I am currently a junior and honor student at Conner High School. I have been riding and showing horses since age three. My first horse, Amy, was a Halflinger cart pony that I took english and jumping lessons on. She was the most unbroke, rotten little pony ever, but that pony taught me more than I could have ever taught her. Since then I have had several Quarter Horses and am now showing a horse named Silverdollarsandman. Buddy has been a dream come true! We have won many high point titles this year, I am very lucky to have him. I am an active member of AQHA, FFA, and 4-H. I have held various offices through the years and currently serve as the teen representative for Boone County 4-H District 3. |

Kate Spencer Bio : I have been involved with horses pretty much since the day I was born. My mom and dad, Rob and Kelley Spencer, have been active in the quarter horses for over 20 years. With them I participated in lead line classes with my mom's fence horse, Drivin' Them Wild, or Little Sam. From then on I was hooked. My first real companion was Chip, Unbridled Chocolate. With him I received a top ten and made finals at the Congress, qualified for the World Show multiple years, got a superior, and got my youth championship. Along with riding I participate in many school activities. I am a member of the National Beta Club, on the Honor Roll, President of my schools KYA club, and I play the French Horn. |

Callie Ratley Callie Ratley is the 19 year-old daughter of Jeff and Carol Ratley of Morganfield, KY. She attends Union County High School and is a member of KYQHA, AQHA, and KEEP. She is an active member of 4-H, FFA, HOSA, and "Boots-n-Bridle" Equestrian Drill Team. In 2008, she competed on the Freshman Parliamentary Team and 4-H "Boots -n- Bridles Equestrian Drill Team and placed 6th at the KY State 4-H Show. In 2009, she currently serves as FFA Committee Chairman and competed on FFA Horse Judging Team and won at State. She went on to compete horse judging at the American Quarter Horse Congress and at National FFA Convention. She is the President of 4-H Club, in July, competed with the Equestrian Drill Team and placed 2nd at the KY State 4-H Show. Callie also shows in Showmanship, Horsemanship, and Hunter Under Saddle through 4-H, AQHA, KYQHA. Callie says she grew up in "Horse Country" and has been riding and showing since she was old enough to sit in the saddle. She says, "It's every little girl's dream to have a pony." Mom and Dad brought home the golden palomino pony named, "Goldie" and Callie told her, "Someday we'll see the world." Her dream came true as she competed at the 2009 AQHA Youth World Show in Oklahoma City. She showed "Awesome Sport", his barn name is "Sport". She told herself to ride in with a smile on her face and ride out with even a bigger one, and she said, "My dream just came true." Callie wants to instill in all youths to have a dream, to live your dream and to follow your dreams. Callie says she is honored to be nominated to encourage youths to get involved in AQHYA." In 2010 she went with KYQHYA to Amarillo, Texas as a delegate during summer. She was a member of the Board of Directors and served as Reporter. She participated on the scrapbook team at Youth World in Oklahoma. For the 2011 year she serves on the Board of Directors. |
