Year End Award High Point Rules

Rules and Regulations for KyQHA Approved AQHA Shows

  1. American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) shows in Kentucky must be approved by Kentucky Quarter Horse Association (KyQHA) to be considered and counted for the KyQHA Year-End High Point Awards Program.
  2. To be approved the show management must submit a request for approval at least 60 days prior to the show.
  3. KyQHA will contact show management to confirm approval no later than 30 days after the initial request for approval was submitted.
  4. KyQHA will publish all approved shows on their web site upon show approval, but in no case less than 30 days from the first day of the approved show.
  5. “Official” show results will be ordered from AQHA.
  6. All points earned at KyQHA sanctioned shows will count toward all KyQHA sponsored programs.
  7. For an AQHA Show to be KyQHA approved it must be held in the state of Kentucky.
  8. Show management must sign the KyQHA contract and collect a fee per horse (termed KyQHA Fee) per judge. This fee will be set by the board of directors for each program year and will not be less than one dollar ($1.00) or more than two-dollars and fifty cents ($2.50).

Rules and Regulations for KyQHA Year End Awards

  1. All nominators must be KyQHA members in good standing (dues $15 for program year). Horses owned in partnership can be nominated for Kentucky year-end awards, if both owners' names are on the registration papers. Amateur nominators must be members of KAQHA (dues $10) and KyQHA. Youth nominators must be members of KQHYA (dues $10) and the youth or their parent(s) must be members of KyQHA. Membership forms can be downloaded by going to our web site at: kyqha.com
  2. Point tabulation for all KyQHA approved shows will run from the end of Kentucky Futurity weekend of a year to the completion of the Kentucky Futurity the following year.
  3. Nomination fees are $6.00 per class for individual classes; $10 per category award; and $15.00 for All-Around awards.
  4. Make checks payable to KyQHA Year-end Awards. Send the fees and the nomination form to: KyQHA Points Secretary, PO Box 910607, Lexington, KY, 40591-0607. All monies raised from nomination fees will be used for year-end awards.
  5. If there is a question of ownership, proof of ownership must be provided or the nomination will be invalid.
  6. There is no minimum number of horses required for a horse to win a year-end award, however, a horse must show in that nominated class under 5 different judges at KyQHA approved AQHA shows.
  7. Small Fry exhibitors are those 9 years of age, as of January 1, and younger.
  8. Money will not be refunded. At least one point must be earned in a class to be considered for an award.
  9. The nomination form must be completed in full (Pages 2 & 3 of 3) and returned with a copy of horse’s registration papers and nominee’s AQHA membership card before points will count. Nominee receives one point for every horse he/she places above, plus one for him/herself, up to a maximum of 45 points per class. Nominee must show must show in that nominated class under 5 different judges at KyQHA approved AQHA shows to be eligible.
  10. Points will count beginning October 8, 2007 and run through the 2008 Kentucky Futurity weekend. Points will begin to accumulate from the time necessary fees, papers and membership cards are received with post-mark date. Only KyQHA-approved AQHA shows held in the state of Kentucky will count toward points. Note: Special Event Shows WILL NOT count toward All-Around Awards.

KyQHA Individual High Point Class Awards

  1. There will be one award for any class offered by the AQHA (Youth, Amateur and Open - Halter and Performance). Points are accumulated at KyQHA approved AQHA shows with nominees receiving one point for every horse s/he places above plus one point for himself, with a maximum of 45 points to be awarded per class.

All-Around / Category Awards

  1. Calculated according to AQHA All-Around and Category systems regarding number of classes and categories. Points are accumulated at KyQHA approved AQHA shows with nominees receiving one point for every horse he/she places above plus one point for himself, with a maximum of 45 points to be awarded per class.

High Point and Reserve High Point Trainer Award

  1. Award to be based on Kentucky points earned by a trainer’s declared clients in open, amateur and youth classes in KyQHA approved AQHA shows.
  2. There will be no charge for this nomination.

Small Fry Awards

  1. Small Fry nominees are responsible for providing the Points Secretary with show bills signed by show officials specifying the exhibitor's name, horse's name, number of entries in class, and the exhibitor’s placing.
  2. Show management must submit these results with KyQHA Fees.
