AQHA Novice Shows = Novel Ideas!
The 2007 Kentucky AQHAAll-Novice Series is winding down following a great year! The Kentucky Amateur Quarter Horse Association took the reins for the All-Novice Program for 2007 and has brought innovation, fun, and education to AQHA Novice Exhibitors far and wide.
The All-Novice events which KAQHA administrated this year included the first show to be held in association with a Ky County Fair and the first Novice Show held in Western Kentucky! Also new for 2007 is an educational format which includes feedback/critiques and handy pointers from an AQHA Professional Horseman for each and every Exhibitor.
Participation at the Novice Series of shows was better than anticipated and the Amateur Association really brought a hands-on approach with members from around the state pitching in to make each event work.
Looking ahead to next year, the association is hoping to expand the Novice Show program to include more County Fair/Expo type shows. This format allows seasoned exhibitors and trainers with Novice exhibitors to experience more show opportunities at each event.
The Grant County Fair Novice Show allowed AQHA exhibitors the opportunity to show in additional Fair classes for great prizes, added monies, and more schooling opportunities. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun but offered a lot of bang for each exhibitors horse show budget. The Fair Shows format also allowed KyQHA to educate horsemen and women about the opportunities offered by their local AQHA affiliate.
The purpose of the AQHA Novice Show program is to provide an educational, easy-to-navigate show opportunity to entry-level breed show exhibitors. The KyQHA Novice Program for 2007 provided multiple educational formats with both Professional Horseman Clinics and the new Professional Horseman Feedback/Evaluation form. By utilizing multiple educational formats, the Amateur Association enabled exhibitors at each Novice Show to gain knowledge about the AQHA classes in which they were participating.
The 2007 KyQHA and KAQHA Novice Show Partnership finishes 2007 with rave reviews and is already turning its sights to next year. Here’s hoping that together we can make 2008 even bigger, better, more educational, and more fun for everyone!
